Just as soon as Prime Minister Harper and President Obama shock hands on a border security deal, Micheal Ignatiff and the federal Liberals began yet another round of singing "the destruction of Canada" song. Although they did
brush on the the real issue with the deal, being that there was no public debate allowed, they primarily argued that it "was bad," because "everything Mr. Harper does is bad." This posses the question, "Do these guys still expect Canadians to take then seriously?"
The unfortunate answer is undoubtably yes, yes they do. Why? Because the Canadian people have demonstrated an unusual capacity to tolerate all the Liberal Party of Canada does or says. Year after year the Liberal party is forgiven for it's historical and current crimes against individual freedom by those it victimizes. Even as Liberal party supporters read this article, they are creating excuses or trying to shift blame to those they oppose.
That's right, regardless of reigning over Canada for the better part of a century, the Liberal party remains blameless for all the bad policies, the increased practice of corporatism, the over taxation of it's citizens, the failed social programs, and the ever decreasing ability for Canada to defend itself. Nope, all these things are the direct result of the greedy rich, businesses, the Maritimes, the Western Provinces, Quebec, and most of all, conservatives. It is exactly this complete lack of accountability that we have to evaluate, how seriously we can take the Liberal party.
Aside from the question of accountability, the Liberal party of Canada also seems to have a contempt for those they wish to rule. Take the long rife registry. This was a law that was effectively pasted for the purpose of asserting policing on the law abiding, at a huge expense to the taxpayer. It did nothing to increase public safety from those whom use violence and fear. Given that chance to repeal what should have never been, the Liberals dug their heals in and managed to prevent an injustice from being corrected.
The submarine debacle, the declaration of the War Measures Act, the Sponsorship Scandal, the great G.S.T. lie, and on and on. To review how the Liberal party has injured Canadians would take way more then then this article. So lets look at what might of been.(and still could be in the Canadian voter decides to give them yet another chance)
The Carbon Tax. Yet another means for the government to pick the pockets of the taxpayer and control commerce. This was a main platform item in the 2008 election, and still stews in the Liberal's kitchen. It was, and is being sold to the Canadian people as an effort to combat the imaginary boogieman of global warming. If past, this would have raised the cost of everything, killed thousands of jobs nationwide, and increased the amount of poverty. Luckily most Canadians decided this was something we could live without.
Socialized daycare, obviously we haven't started liberal indoctrination at a young enough age. This is being framed as relief for families from the cost of daycare. That's right, instead of paying for daycare for YOUR kids for a
few years, you get to pay for daycare for all kids for the rest of your life. You could bet you bottom tax dollar that cost of delivery would skyrocket like every other industry usurped by the government.
Increased corporate tax rates. Nothing created jobs quicker during a recession then increasing the tax burden on business.(small, medium and large) This is a standard in liberal tax philosophy, tax business and industry more in order to created jobs else where. In reality, the only real job growth is the hiring of government workers, while strangling private sector growth. In this fragile economy, this is the last thing Canadians need.
Spending billions to maintain an obsolete air force. Just like the submarine debacle of the 1990, a Liberal government would spend defense funding to maintain thirty year old technology rather then invest in modern and advanced equipment, once again leaving the proud Canadian Forces a global laughing stock.
If you just spend a little time listening to Mr. Ignatiff speak it will become clear to you that it is his wish to rule and not lead Canadians. It is time for this party fade into history and for Canadians to establish new party. Canadians deserve a choice that will govern with the interests of all in mind, instead of the fifty plus one to get re-elected mentality that is currently offered. The Liberal party of Canada, by current and historical reference, is only capable of divisive politics with the goal of gaining and retaining power. It is enough. We can do better.
